Christopher Brence has more than 25 years of experience providing strategic contract negotiation and legal counsel to global technology and financial services firms, including Citigroup, BNY Mellon, and Intel Corporation.

Chris has provided counsel on business operations and contract negotiations regarding technology transfer, protection and licensing of intellectual property, and sales, acquisition, and licensing of computer components, consumer and business technology products, manufacturing technology and services, open source and proprietary software, development and consulting services, financial services software and SaaS.

Chris’s work with global broker-dealer and banking firms includes counseling on business strategies and procedures for intellectual property and confidential information protection, open-source software, APIs, mobile phone app deployment, provision of SaaS platforms and related services to customers, and use of market data. Chris has extensive experience creating and negotiating customer-facing and procurement form agreements, and working closely with procurement operations of firms on overall policies and procedures for procurement in compliance with outsourcing and privacy regulations.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Chris was a mainframe computer programmer working in quality control and technical support with a financial services software company, which helped develop his skills at communicating complex topics in an easy-to-understand manner.

Chris earned a JD from Arizona State University, and a BA from the University of Notre Dame.
